Who we are
A steady hand for serious students.
Sophyra Tutors is an independent online tutoring practice for A-Level and IB Diploma Programme students. We work alongside families through the high-stakes years of upper-secondary education and university entry.
Our tutors are subject specialists, not generalists. Every student is matched to a tutor by subject, exam board, and goal, by a senior member of the team who has read the brief. Once a student begins, the same tutor stays with them for the whole journey.

Founder and Director of Sophyra Tutors
Joseph holds a BEng and MSc in Chemical Engineering, with a research background in nanoscience and logistics. He is TEFL qualified and an Executive Coach, trained with the Academy of Executive Coaching (AoEC).
His own schooling was disrupted by specialist teacher shortages in the sciences. He founded Sophyra Tutors to give young people the expert teaching he wished he had received as a student, and to pass on the curiosity that drew him into the sciences.
Joseph is planning a series of masterclasses across the sciences, designed to give students a real taster of what it means to be a chemical engineer, a nanoscientist, or a working researcher.

Education Adviser & Designated Safeguarding Lead

With over 20 years of leadership experience in international education, Natalia is a seasoned strategist dedicated to creating enriching, student-centred learning environments. Having served as a whole-school principal and educational consultant, she combines practical leadership insight with a strong foundation in curriculum design, assessment frameworks, and pastoral care. Her leadership career spans four countries: two headships in London, Director at the British International School Istanbul, and Principal at ABQ Seeb in Muscat and ABC Baku in Azerbaijan.
As Designated Safeguarding Lead, Natalia oversees the company's safeguarding policies and staff training, making sure all tutors understand their responsibilities in protecting the wellbeing of young people and vulnerable learners.
Our tutor panel

Our panel is small by design. Specialists in Mathematics, the Sciences, English for university entry, and the most competitive UK admissions routes, including Oxbridge and the UCAT.
Many of our tutors hold senior teaching roles at British international or UK independent schools alongside their work with us. The panel includes current and former Heads of Department, exam-board markers, and PhD holders in their subject specialisms.
Every tutor is independent, freelance, and contracted to Sophyra Tutors under a written agreement that incorporates our Safeguarding and Safer Recruitment policies. Every tutor completes our Safer Recruitment process before they meet a student.
